UNEXPECTED VISIT

The Close welcomed an unexpected guest star this weekend - UNCLE MAX chimed his little fan club! !

A FIRST TRIM

Some thought the General's hair was getting a bit untidy... so off to Eric we went for a first trim - a little off behind the ears.

Not sure why we packed so much clothing-swimsuits and birthday suits did the trick. There is nothing like summer in New England, from Salisbury to Nantucket to Cape Cod, life is good.

AHOY MATEY.... BESS IS THREE!

We've survived. It has been a whirlwind extravaganza of a celebration! And now, she's in bed and so are we. Exhausted. The big news is now that Bess is three, she's willing to sleep with her duvet (been living on the floor with her pillows since we bought it ages ago), she'll let us keep a cup of water on her nightstand, and she has a vase of flowers there too. A big girl!

The party was a great success with lots of pirates, singing, dancing and of course, a pirate birthday cake courtesy of Finbar. Yesterday we had lunch at a favorite haunt of Sammy and Finbar.... a very grown up lunch, and today it was football in the morning in the pouring rain and tea in Kensington Gardens in the afternoon.

NEARLY THREE

FUN IN HYDE PARK

We went to the paddling pool but there was no water. Still managed to have fun!

We went to see the building Mr Gehry built. Pretty cool.

And Helen and Ike showed up. Bess is in training for her upcoming birthday...so Grandpa gets into the spirit!
